Learn how to inspire the next generation by teaching a lifelong skill. Fishing is one of the most popular youth activities\, but do you know how to explain the basics? Let us show you! \nThe Cub Scout program is going to be introducing more opportunities for fishing adventure advancement. This is the perfect class to learn how to take your youth on a fun & successful fishing outing. \nOur Certified Anging Instructor Class introduces you to equipment\, knot tying\, tackle assembly\, casting\, fishing skills; fish ID and habitats; regulations and ethics\, safety and stewardship through fun hands on activities and lessons. \nWho should attend? Anging educators can be anyone\, age 15 and older\, parks and recreation staff\, teachers\, summer camp staff\, home school providers\, youth group leaders\, fishing club members\, Scouting leaders for all ages. \nThis Certified Anging Instructor Class is being hosted by the Longhorn Council Fishing Committee & TPWD and will be held in person. Class is  January 23rd. 6:00pm to January 25th. 12:00pm. Meals and lodging in family suites included with registration. \nAdults (18+) will be certified through Scouting America & TPWD If you’d like to earn TPWD Certified Angler status\, please complete the additional registration at the link below—there’s no extra cost. TPWD Angler Class \nTeams Scouts (15+) will be certified through Scouting America. \nParticipants will earn their Anging Education Certification\, get some free swag and information on how to gather additional resources.  Spread the word and invite others to join in on the fun!

SUMMARY:National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) 2025
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE! \nNational Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is the premier youth leadership development course for Scouting America within the Longhorn Council. NYLT integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of the Scouting experience. Through a wide range of activities\, NYLT participants will get the skills and confidence to lead well as they put into action the best that Scouting has to offer. \n \nParticipant Requirements:\nIf you are attending as a participant\, you must: \n\nMust be a registered member of a Scouting unit.\nMust have a current Scouting America Annual Health and Medical Record form parts A\, B\, and C.\nScouts BSA members must be 13 years of age and fall within the maximum age allowance for their program registration. They must be ranked a First Class Scout or higher and have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops.\nVenturers and Sea Scouts must be at least 14\, or 13 and have completed eighth grade\, and fall within the maximum age allowance for their program. They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships. It is recommended that they have had at least one year of camping experience. Classes are led by experienced volunteers and professionals who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. \nThe Latin phrase “ESTOTE PARATI” found on our shield means “Be Prepared.”  University of Scouting is designed to help you Be Prepared\, further your knowledge\, enhance your skills\, and grow your network so you can better deliver the Promise of Scouting. \nIt is time to gather\, network\, hone your skills\, and recharge for another great year of Scouting.  To all of those who attended prior year’s University of Scouting\, we say “Welcome Back.” To those who are attending for the first time\, we welcome you and hope you find your time well spent. We know your time is valuable; we appreciate your willingness to spend it here. The campus is centrally located in historic downtown Fort Worth.  You will discover the campus to be beautifully designed and full of amenities. \nInside the Course Catalog you will find registration information\, course fees\, and information on the degree program.  You will also find the course offerings for each of the Colleges: Cub Scouting\, Scouts BSA\, Venturing/Sea Scouts/Explores/OA\, Outdoor Ethics and Conservation\, General Studies\, and Youth Development. \nThis is the Council’s largest single day training event for adults and youth in Longhorn Council.  You will have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with other like-minded individuals in the area.  We encourage you to use your time between classes for networking – meet up with old friends and make new friends.
